Building Future Educators Through Service and Leadership
PDK International is focused on eliminating the national teacher shortage by reimagining educator pathways. We are doing this through our career and technical student organization (CTSO), Educators Rising. PDK’s core values include community, leadership, service, optimism, and excellence. PDK recognizes the strength of schools that engage with citizens within their communities, through school-to-business partnerships, volunteering, and acts of service.
The over 20,000 students participating in Educators Rising are getting advance experience in K12 education by learning about careers in education and by developing skills in teaching younger students in their district. Through chapters and regional, state, and national competitions, students have opportunities to showcase their skills and develop their own leadership toward future careers in education.
Part of the Educators Rising student experience are opportunities to engage in service projects that extend beyond school walls. Furthermore, Educators Rising at the state level encourages service projects, and the annual national conference for Educators Rising includes a national service project as well.
Our website has examples of the types of service projects students organize and execute as part of their local, state, and national chapter activities.
